“We created 100Plus with the goal of using data, design and technology to positively impact people's lives and health.”

Practice Fusion, a San Francisco-based company offering doctors a free electronic medical records system, has acquired a company in its own health technology incubator, the personalized health prediction startup 100Plus, for an undisclosed amount.

The 100Plus iPhone app, still in limited testing, encourages people to do things like take a multivitamin, eat vegan for a day, or simply drink more water. Using data analytics and game mechanics, it shows people how small changes in behavior can improve their health.

“The 100Plus team has found a way to inspire the average person to make daily changes in their lives—this is a huge challenge that is rarely achieved,” said Patrick Dugan, Practice Fusion’s associate vice president of corporate development. “Whether it’s through accountable care organizations or reminding people to the take medications, healthier habits mean a less costly healthcare system and longer lives for patients. We’re looking forward to using 100Plus’ talent and vision to make this happen.”

100Plus was founded in 2011 and quickly attracted attention by showcasing the impact of alcohol consumption on lifespan through the launch of its first app at the popular art and tech culture conference, SXSW, in March 2012. In 2011, the company raised $500,000 in seed funding from Founders Fund, followed by an additional $750,000 from Greylock Discovery Fund, Felicis Ventures, and Band of Angels Acorn Fund.

“We created 100Plus with the goal of using data, design and technology to positively impact people’s lives and health,” says 100Plus CEO Chris Hogg. “I am excited for the opportunity to help build smart products that are able to help doctors provide better care to patients.”
