California’s industrial biotechnology sector has been a bright spot of job growth at a difficult economic time, according to a new survey from two trade associations within the state. The groups hope to use the report to convince policymakers that California needs to take steps to grow and retain the industry or risk losing it. We spoke to Gail Mederis, CEO of BayBio, about the report, what actions the state should take, and whether the real threat of these jobs going elsewhere comes from places like Brazil, rather than Nevada.
