There's significant variance in the performance of the different divisions within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and determining the cause of that variance could accelerate the introduction of new drugs and have dramatic impact on the cost of drug development, extend lives, and improve the economy, according to a new report from the Manhattan Institute. We spoke to Joe DiMasi, director of economic analysis at the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development and one of the authors of the report, about its findings and recommendations.
